BElog: Our latest breakfast briefing a huge hit

Our last breakfast briefing at The Glades on 18 April 2018 was a huge success.  With over 60 HR professionals, business owners, accountants, business coaches and managers in the room, we learnt from those that had gotten it wrong and ended up in front of the Fair Work Commission.

Some key take aways included ensuring consistent application of policies and sanctions, ensuring that a fair process is always followed prior to terminating an employee and also the risks of ensuring there is a valid reason for termination.

Feedback on the session included:

“Thank you for the lovely breakfast Briefing, the team and I found it very informative and would be greatly interested in attending again.”

“Thank you Mark, it was definitely an informative briefing.”

“Hi Mark, thanks for this morning.  It was very informative and funny.”

We look forward to seeing you all again at our next Briefing, details to be sent out shortly.  For those wanting to come along, you can subscribe to our invite list or send an email to [email protected]

BE-log: Our next breakfast briefing – 8 February 2018

Our next BE Employment Law Breakfast Briefing is on 8 February 2018.

What better way to kick off 2018 then to get an overview of the various recent legislative changes in the employment law space.  Topics to be covered include industrial manslaughter legislation, labour hire licensing (you might be surprised by the breadth of who is a labour hire entity), protecting vulnerable worker reforms (including increased penalties for inadequate record keeping) and legislation to introduce private sector whistle-blower protection.

Join us at The Glades for a delicious free breakfast and barista made coffee/tea/hot chocolate also on order!

Our breakfast briefings are designed for business owners, business advisers, HR professionals and anyone with an interest in managing employees. Please feel free to share the invite amongst your co-workers, colleagues and others you think may be interested.  We look forward to seeing you there.

BE-log: November 2017 Breakfast Briefing a great success

Our inaugural BE Employment Law Breakfast Briefing was held on 9 November 2017.  Over a complementary breakfast of smashed avo, eggs benny and great coffee, we discussed a new approach to the determination of sexual harassment and discrimination claims in Queensland.  45 confirmed attendees learned about the role of the QIRC in hearing these types of claims with a number of interesting questions asked.  It was great to be able to once again offer some insight into workplace law topics for our Gold Coast clients and contacts.

Thanks to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you at our next breakfast in February 2018.
